Isaac was blue eyed. Family stories have it that he liked the good living, and he also had extravagant decisions about moving from one country to another one. He was a chain smoker. He ate Kasher throughout his life. He was a merchant, he dealt in clothing. Isaac and Raquel left Turkey sometime around 1921 probably driven by the fact that the Ottoman Empire had fallen, and life in Turkey was hard. They moved to Paris, then to Mexico, then to Cuba, then returned to Paris, and finally traveled by sea to Peru arriving in the port of Paita in 1930, settled in Piura until 1933 when they moved to Lima. Gillian grew up in Piura (1930-1933) and in Lima. She studied Pharmacology at San Marcos University, where she met Enrique. She led a long and fruitful life and had a tremendous influence within the family. Her home was always the center of family meetings. She was a strong woman. The last 9 months of her life she suffered from Leukemia; notwithstanding her illness she taught everyone that surrounded her a lesson in dignity and humanness. She died peacefully surrounded by her immediate family. She is missed and remembered Z"L.
